Pinchas Goldschmidt, Chief Rabbi of Moscow

Jewish Community of Moscow

Dear Dr. Kantor!

On February 27, 2010, President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev signed the decree No 254 conferring Russian nationality on me under the programme to recognise services to the country. This is a great honour for me and it demonstrates the government’s respect for the Jewish community and for me as an individual.

It is of utmost importance to me that now I am a full-fledged citizen of the country where I have lived and worked for twenty years. I hope I will continue contributing to the success of the Jewish community in Russia. I would like to assure you that I will make every effort to revive excellent centuries-old traditions and advance our cooperation for the benefit of the peace and prosperity of our country.

Dear Dr. Kantor, this happy and momentous event would not have happened without your personal involvement. As a gesture of gratitude, please accept this souvenir – a numbered collector’s edition model of the Choral Synagogue in Moscow manufactured by an official Israeli minter of coins and medals.

Once again, I would like to express my warmest friendship and wish you good health and longevity. May G-d bless you in your good deeds and bring you and your family peace and prosperity.

Best regards,
Pinchas Goldschmidt
Chief Rabbi of Moscow
